This video was taken the weekend of 10/15. You can see the snow is creeping its way down. There is usually snow to the ground by Halloween every year. If you drive South on this road, The Seward HWY, you would eventually reach the Kenai, Kasilof, and Anchor Rivers, which is on the Kenai Penninsula. An acclaimed Steelhead fishery, the river has not had very excellent returns on Steelhead for the last few years, mostly due to bank erosions, and over-harvesting. There are efforts by ADF&G currently to help bring the numbers back up!
Largemouth Bass Footage
Posted in Uncategorized with tags bass, hill country, largemouth bass on October 23, 2011 by Fish BanditI had a chance to get some underwater footage of a largemouth bass earlier this spring. Taking a peak into the environment of the fish, you get a more clear understanding of how their colors relate to their cover, keeping them hidden to ambush wooly buggers.
Pack Cam
Posted in Uncategorized with tags dolly varden, kenai river, pack cam on October 23, 2011 by Fish BanditI recently discovered a nice spot on my pack to set a camera, I think this angle is pretty sweet. I need to get some footage first hand of catching a fish next time for the full effect!

Kenai river update

Wow. I Had an incredible 3 days of floating the upper kenai river this past week with a few great friends.
It is a mental escape for me when I’m scorching in the texas heat, to imagine days on the kenai.
The fishing is continuing to get better, and the bead and flesh bite is starting to get better and better.
We had to work the deep side pockets for the rainbows, hurt the hard work payed off with some beautiful fish.
Thanks Kenai!
I shall see you again soon.

Exit the inferno!

It has been very hot, very dry, and the fishing for the weekend angler has been getting tougher and tougher. I have been rain dancing to the point that all of the carpet and rugs in my home have been cut entirely.
It has left me with no other choice, than to temporarily retreat to cooler familiar waters.
I make my journey to back to Alaska this week, looking very much forward to the outdoor opportunites ahead. I shall try my hardest to convince the rain gods, that abuse Alaska too frequently, to spare some beloved aqua to a place in need.
Keep on dancing, and beat the heat!
I shall write some posts, and introduce readers to some of the fishing I enjoyed as a beginner fly fisherman.
